Frequently Asked
Questions
Viking Audio was established
in 1987 with a commitment to provide top quality sound
reinforcement loudspeaker enclosures at a reasonable price. Our
production facility measures 8000 square feet and is located in
Zapopan, Jalisco, Mexico, 10 miles from downtown Guadalajara.
Our enclosures continue
to provide the best performance in their price range, due to their excellent quality and outstanding value. We are
serving customers in Mexico, South America, United States, Europe,
Middle East, Japan and Asia.
We have prepared the
following answers to some of the questions that we are most
frequently asked.
Q.- Do the enclosures
include drivers?
A.-
Our line arrays include all drivers are ready for use. Our MCW and PRO
Series enclosures do
not include drivers, allowing you to save thousands of dollars by
installing the drivers yourself. The cabinets are designed for
JBL components, although you can also obtain excellent results using certain
other brands.
Q.- How are the
enclosures finished?
A.- Our line array and MCW series
enclosures are finished in black fiberglass with a powder coated
perforated steel protective grill; the fiberglass finish provides
structural integrity and durability unmatched by conventional
painted enclosures. The PRO series are available either in our
new polymeric finish or in heavy-duty carpet; some models are
available in both.
Q.- What crossover
should I use?
A.- For best results a
programmable signal processor including crossover, delay (for
time alignment), equalization and compression should be used.
There are several of these processors currently available on the
market: dbx DriveRack PA, 260 and 480, Brooke Siren Systems ( BSS ) Minidrive fds-334t, 336t and fds-366t Omnidrive,
Rane RPM 26
and Lake Contour, among others.
Q.- What about shipping
and customs?
A.- Trucking charges
from Guadalajara to the U.S. border cost $30 to $60 per enclosure,
depending on the enclosure size and weight and on where they
cross the border (Laredo, Texas is the closest). Brokers and
customs fees into the U.S. cost between 5% and 10% - some fees
are flat rate, while others are a percentage of the invoice total;
the minimum charge usually runs about $300 USD. Other freight
possibilities are by ship, plane and train. Ocean freighters are
the best choice for full containers going to other continents.
Air freight is good for small, urgent orders.
Q.- How do I place an
order?
A.- Give us a call,
send a fax or e-mail your order. We will prepare it and quote the
shipping charges, which in most cases can be collect, payable at
the destination. We need a 50% deposit to process your order and
payment in full before shipping. The payment can be realized by
means of a bank transfer, money order or letter of credit - call
us for details. Quantity discounts are available for established
retail outlets.
Please do not hesitate
to call or email if you have any further questions.
